This week my guest is Sean Collier. He Associate Editor of Pittsburgh Magazine, a correspondent for WDVE's morning show and the host of the podcast "You Can't Handle The Truth: Honest Reviews of New Movies" in which he and a co-host (usually Aaron Kleiber) record their immediate reactions to brand new movies after seeing a screener. It's also a show we just happen to produce from the Writing on the Floor studios.  He's also a stand-up comic, and we talk about writing, Pittsburgh, comedy and a whole lot more.

This week my guest is Chris DeRose. Chris is a Latrobe native, Second City Alum and morning show correspondent for “You and Me in the Morning” on WCIU out of Chicago, Chris worked his way through the improv and acting scene in Chicago and through some side-jobs ended up on the hit regional morning show that eventually lead him to viral internet fame with the spitting lady video. Chris is so much more than that though, as he formally studied theater and history, and brings an incredible work-ethic and honestly kind personality to his work.

Remember to rate and review us on iTunes, if you are so inclined!

This week we talk to the Matte Braidic, the photographer and artist behind the wildly popular “Faceburgh” project. Matte is painting a portrait of our city, one face at a time, with his candid and beautifully shot photos. He sits down with Zach to talk about the project, how he got started, what matters to him and to share an invite to the opening of his exhibition at the South Side Welcome Center on September 19. You can find the project at facebook.com/faceburgh.

This week our guest is Sarah Humphrey, of The Inn – an art gallery and multi-purpose art space in Upper Lawrenceville. I met Sarah through her dad (and previous guest) Charlie Humphrey, and it is clear from our talk that she has inherited her dad’s appreciation for the arts, and culture. She has a long list of credentials in art management and art history, and she is one of those people who embrace all things artistic and subversive, and encourage the world to shake things up! The Inn can be found here.

This week our guests are three members of Ruckus (Brett, Mallory and Kyle)! It seems that every college or university has at least one improv comedy group. Pitt was the exception. So last year a Phd. Student with experience and several undergrads came together to form Ruckus Improv. They are workhorses and now play all over the city… at Steel City Improv Theater, Arcade Comedy Theater, random facilities at University of Pittsburgh. This episode was recorded in the Green Room in the basement of The Cathedral of Learning in Oakland.

Note: This episode contains NSFW language. You are hereby warned. Enjoy!

Our first live episode! On June 27th we took over Arcade Comedy Theater in the heart of the cultural district for an exciting night of comedy, music and interviews. We had standup comedy from Tim Ross (@Tim_Is_Win), storytelling from the equally funny Derek Minto, New Victorians were the musical guest, and our featured guest was WQED’s Rick Sebak!

The show was a lot of fun, and it was sponsored by Penn Brewery offering year-round and seasonal selections of beer all brewed right here in The ‘Burgh! Visit them at their Northside Brewery and restaurant where the tradition of their lagering caves lives on. Check them out on facebook, twitter, Google+, Instagram, and at PennBrew.com. Penn Brewery – Pure Pittsburgh.

One note: we had a slight mixup with recording the audio from the sound board, so what you will hear is what we picked up from the mic on the desk on stage. It isn’t too bad, but we apologize that it isn’t the pristine audio we intended!

This week we have a very special guest – City Coucilman and Democratic Candidate for the Office of Mayor of Pittsburgh, BILL PEDUTO is on the show. Bill has decades of work in city politics and policy, and he shares with us that his end-goal is being mayor of this great city. He talks about his agenda, his policies, how he got into the politics game and his vision for the future of this great city. He is likely to be elected mayor this fall, having just won the democratic primary, and his plans for this city are very exciting.

We want to thank Bill for taking time out of his incredibly busy schedule to sit and speak with us, and to thank his incredibly hard-working staff for coordinating with us.

My guest this week is Tyler Crumrine. Tyler works with a theater group in town and is one of the hosts of the very funny show “Ninjas vs. Podcast” on which he and two of his friends debate a series of “this vs. that” items submitted by users. Tyler is relatively new to the city, though not to the area, and he and I sit down to talk about his show, his work and his take on life here for a new grad.

This week our guest is the incredibly talented Mike Rubino. Mike was on an earlier episode with Kristy Nolen talking about opening the Arcade Comedy Theater.

This time, however, Mike is here to talk about MIKE! You ever meet someone and you wonder how they do it all? Someone super creative and producing so much great work and still friendly and normal? Mike is that guy. He is a fantastic writer, won the 48 Hour FIlm Project last year, writes and produces “Dodge Intrepid and the Pages of Time” (a 30′s style radio adventure), runs the Arcade Comedy Theater with the other 4 founders, does improv, runs the design and branding for Arcade Comedy Theater, OH… he also has a full-time job.
Mike sits down to talk comedy, creativity, Pittsburgh and a whole lot more!
